What a comic library costs each month
List prices in US dollars, before tax, checked 2026-09-30. We assume you read the whole library once a month (100,000 page reads) and add a few comics (5,000 uploads). Check each provider's page before you buy: prices change.

Is Wasabi expensive?
For a comic library under 1 TB, yes. Wasabi's pay-as-you-go plan bills at least 1 TB of storage, so 50 GB and 500 GB both cost $7.99 a month. It also keeps charging for anything you delete before it is 90 days old. Downloads are free only while you download no more than you store each month; Wasabi's pricing FAQ says heavier use "is not a good fit" and that it may limit or suspend the account. Reading a library once a month is right at that line; reading it twice is over it.
Past 1 TB it is a fair price: $7.99 for 1 TB against $6.88 on Backblaze B2.
Wasabi vs Backblaze B2, and where R2 fits
| Backblaze B2 | Wasabi | Cloudflare R2 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 200 GB a month | $1.32 | $7.99 | $2.85 |
| 1 TB a month | $6.88 | $7.99 | $14.85 |
| Free storage | First 10 GB | None | First 10 GB |
| Downloads | Free up to 3× what you store | Free up to what you store | Always free |
| Minimums | None | 1 TB, 90 days | None |
B2 is the cheaper of the two at every size, and by far the cheaper below 1 TB, where Wasabi still bills a full terabyte. R2 costs more per gigabyte but never charges for downloads, which suits a library you read a lot from several devices, or one small enough to fit in its free 10 GB. At 1 TB, iDrive e2 ($6.00), B2 and Wasabi are close; R2 is $14.85.
Backblaze B2 stops downloads at 1 GB a day until you add a card
We ran into this while testing reading speed on 29 September 2026. A B2 account without a payment card is held to its free daily allowance, which Backblaze's help page puts at 1 GB of downloads a day. After that, every read came back "403 cap exceeded" until the caps reset at midnight GMT. To read a comic library from B2, add a payment card and raise the download cap under Caps & Alerts. The card we tried was declined, so our test account stayed capped for the day.
Which one opens a comic fastest?
We timed how long each service takes to put the first page of a comic on screen, from Los Angeles on a typical US home connection (September 2026). The fastest were Bunny Storage (123 ms), Cloudflare R2 (199 ms) and Wasabi (215 ms). The full results, with every run, are in How fast is reading comics straight from your own cloud?
S3 storage or the drive plan you already pay for?
New to S3 itself? What is S3 storage, and do you need AWS for it? explains the basics in plain words. If you already pay for Google One or Microsoft 365, keep your comics there: Easemic reads from Google Drive and OneDrive directly. Google One's 100 GB Basic plan is $1.99 a month and its next plan up is Google AI Plus at 2 TB for $9.99 (checked 2026-10-01). A 100 GB library costs $0.63 on Backblaze B2 and $1.35 on Cloudflare R2, and it does not use up the space your email and photos share. Somewhere past 1 TB the drive plan wins: 1.5 TB on B2 is $10.36 a month, more than Google's 2 TB plan.
Setting one up for Easemic
- Create a bucket with your provider, in the region nearest to you.
- Create an access key limited to that bucket, if your provider allows it.
- In Easemic, open More → Cloud library and paste the endpoint, the key and the bucket name. For Cloudflare R2 you can sign in with Cloudflare instead.
- Choose whether to encrypt. Easemic encrypts on the phone, with a password only you know, before anything leaves it.
Easemic keeps your comics and the list of what is in your library in that bucket. Nothing goes to a server of ours: there isn't one. Easemic imports CBZ files, not CBR; What is a CBZ file, and how do you read one? shows how to convert a CBR to CBZ.
