How it works, in one minute
WebDAV adds a few requests to ordinary web traffic (RFC 4918): PROPFIND lists a folder, MKCOL makes one, PUT uploads a file, GET downloads one and DELETE removes it. Reading part of a file, such as one page out of a bigger bundle, is a plain web range request. That is why a comic app can open page 40 without downloading pages 1 to 39.

Drives without WebDAV
- Google Drive: No WebDAV address; apps use Google’s Drive API. Easemic connects to Google Drive that way.
- OneDrive: Microsoft documents no WebDAV address for personal OneDrive; apps use Microsoft Graph. Easemic connects to OneDrive that way.
- Dropbox: WebDAV is "not on the current feature roadmap", in Dropbox’s words.
- iCloud Drive: No WebDAV address. Apple’s own Pages, Numbers and Keynote stopped uploading to WebDAV servers in version 10.0.
- Box: Ended WebDAV on 28 April 2023.
What we ran into ourselves
- 123pan's address must end in /webdav. The bare host, https://webdav.123pan.cn/, is not WebDAV: it answers every request with "404 page not found", with or without a password (tested 30 September 2026).
- 123pan can void an app password without notice. On 29 September 2026 every request with our working app password started getting 401, the same answer as a wrong password, while the 123pan app still listed it. Typing it again did nothing. Deleting the app under 我的 → 第三方挂载 → WebDAV 授权管理 and adding it again gave a new password that worked, and the files were untouched.
- One of 123pan's download servers refused valid links. Downloads are redirected to signed links on 123pan's download servers, and on 27 September 2026 one of them answered 403 to 27 of our 200 reads. Asking 123pan again for a fresh link usually lands on another server, so a client that retries that way keeps reading.
- Nutstore's free plan is too small to read a library from. It allows 3 GB of downloads a month (Nutstore help), about thirty 100 MB comics.
- A NAS account limited to one folder may get 403 on the server's root. Put that folder in the address, or in the app's folder field, rather than connecting to the server's top level.
WebDAV on Windows
Windows can open a WebDAV drive as a network drive: in File Explorer, choose Map network drive and enter the https:// address. Microsoft deprecated the WebClient service that does this in November 2023, and it isn't started by default, so start it first if mapping fails. To serve WebDAV from a Windows computer you need a server, such as IIS with its WebDAV module or rclone serve webdav.
Using a WebDAV drive with Easemic
In Easemic, open More → Cloud library → WebDAV and fill in the server address, user name and app password, plus a folder if you want the library somewhere other than the top level. Nutstore and 123pan have one-tap addresses. WebDAV libraries are always encrypted: you set a library password, and every page is encrypted on the phone before it is uploaded.
Questions people ask
Does Google Drive support WebDAV?
No. Google Drive has no WebDAV address; apps connect through Google’s own Drive API. Easemic connects to Google Drive that way.
Does OneDrive support WebDAV?
Microsoft does not document WebDAV for personal OneDrive. Easemic connects to OneDrive directly through Microsoft’s API instead.
Is WebDAV secure?
Over an https:// address the connection is encrypted, but the drive can still read your files. Easemic encrypts every page on the phone before upload, so the drive only stores data it cannot read.
Why does my WebDAV address give a 404 error?
The address usually needs the WebDAV path, not just the server name: 123pan’s is https://webdav.123pan.cn/webdav, and its bare host answers every request with 404. Nextcloud’s ends in /remote.php/dav/files/ and your user name.
Why did my WebDAV password stop working?
Drives can revoke an app password. 123pan voided ours on 29 September 2026 without notice; the fix was to delete the app in 我的 → 第三方挂载 → WebDAV 授权管理, add it again, and enter the new password.
